Healthy Turkey Rice Burgers are deliciously flavored with simple ingredients, packed with greens and goodness, perfect for the whole family. It’s a (healthy) happy meal packed into a burger. This recipe is gluten-free and dairy-free recipe, and super customizable.
Origin story: I was making toddler food for a client during quarantine and I started making her tiny turkey meatballs with simple flavors. They were so darn delicious, I wanted to eat them! I had to make full-sized versions of them!
Ingredient & Substitution Tips:
Making these turkey burgers is great for using up leftover cooked rice. I made jasmine rice with bone broth for extra flavor and nutritional value for my burgers. Feel free to use your favorite rice for this.
You can absolutely substitute ground chicken for the ground turkey in this recipe. I highly recommend choosing organic meats when you can. Change up/add some spices too if you want!
This recipe is weeknight friendly, especially because you can use frozen riced broccoli and frozen chopped spinach. You could use lightly cooked fresh spinach as well. Ricing broccoli is as easy as throwing it in the food processor, and is very freezer-friendly.
Serving
You can put these Healthy Turkey Rice Burgers with your favorite toppings on a gluten-free bun, a lettuce wrap, or just eat on their own. Go a little Greek with some (dairy-free) tzatziki sauce. Add my Lemon Garlic Dressing on top.
Make extra burgers! You can freeze the cooked or raw patties and save them for another meal.

Healthy Turkey Rice Burgers
Equipment
- Large Mixing Bowl
- large frying pan
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 cups cooked jasmine or other rice, cooked with broth instead of water if possible
- 1 cup riced or minced broccoli, from frozen or fresh
- Handful chopped frozen spinach, could substitute fresh spinach
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. sea salt
Method
- Add cooked rice, raw ground turkey, broccoli, spinach, salt, and eggs to large mixing bowl.
- Mix all the ingredients with your hands until thoroughly combined, making sure no ingredients are clumped together.
- Form into patties. You can make smaller or larger ones depending on your desired serving size.
- Heat oil over medium heat for frying the patties. Patty should sizzle when it is placed into oil. Try not to overcrowd the pan. Monitor the heat, you want to be able to brown the patty on the first side and cook the burger through without burning.
- Flip the burger over when it is about cooked through, then put the lid on the pan. Cook for an additional few minutes until cooked through. An instant-read thermometer inserted from the side of the burger into the center should register 160 degrees.
