It’s February and it’s still cozy season folks! Enjoy this homemade sugar-free hot chocolate using Swoon’s Sugar Free Simple Syrup while the weather still begs you to. Hot chocolate is the perfect treat on Valentine’s Day for something easy, sweet and indulgent and even dairy-free (but keeps you feeling good!) Quick, easy, simple for a cold night, or any night of the year when you want an easy dessert you don’t have to feel guilty about!
This recipe would be great with these Flourless Sugar-Free Chocolate Cookies made with just a few ingredients and totally delicious. Chocoholics- this pairing is for you!
This swoon-worthy hot chocolate comes together in just minutes over the stovetop with no grainy-ness because of the Swoon Syrup. Start by whisking together the cacao powder and the Swoon Sugar-Free Syrup to get the lumps out. If you don’t want to do this sugar-free, you could use simple syrup for this as well. Then add your coconut cream and your nut milk of choice. I went for the creamy nuttiness of Milkadamia’s macadamia milk. I also added in some Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides for a protein kick, which is optional but recommended!
My favorite products for this recipe (Not sponsored, just love them!):
- Navitas Cacao Powder: We like to use Navitas Organics Cacao powder because they are fair-trade, and are very transparent about their sourcing and ingredients. I don’t love to use dutch-processed cocoa powder because the alkalizing process often requires chemicals that I just don’t want in my food and my body.
- Swoon Sugar Free Simple Syrup: Swoon is a 1:1 replacement for simple syrup made with Monk Fruit Extract. 1 tsp. of Swoon is the about the same sweetness as one sugar packet. You can use it wherever you would use simple syrup or as a replacement for honey and agave, like in margaritas! Find it on Amazon or on their website.
- Vital Proteins Unflavored Collagen: It’s flavorless, dissolves easily, and is filled with protein that helps your hair, skin and nails.
