This quick & easy garbanzo bean dish (also known as chickpeas) is very easy and tasty snack or side to make from pantry ingredients. It’s simple, nutritious, and cheap to make. You may have all these ingredients just waiting in your cabinet right now to be combined into this deliciousness. I make this often as a go-to snack.

Ingredient Tips:

Stocking up for quarantine right now? Make sure to grab these beans, there’s so much you can do with them. Garbanzo beans and chickpeas are the same thing, but cans and packages are often labeled one or the other. It’s the main ingredient in hummus as well. (Check out my hummus recipe video here). Garbanzo beans are jam-packed with nutrition, full of fiber and protein that make you feel full.

You can make this recipe from dried garbanzo beans/chickpeas that you have cooked, just make about a 1 ¾ cup cooked beans. Dried garbanzos are often sold in the bulk bin, which can make them even more affordable.

Save the water from the can, it can be used in many other recipes! Water from the garbanzo/chickpea can is known as “aquafaba” and can be used as a thickener in dairy-free/vegan recipes.

My favorite products for this recipe:

  • Canned Garbanzo Beans/Chickpeas: check to make sure there is a non-BPA lining. Canned beans are ready to rinse and serve. Organic canned beans are often very cheap, so go organic if you can!

  • Balsamic Vinegar: Get the best quality you can! Look out for a dark glass bottle and a PGI certification label that means it is of good quality. This Whole Foods Balsamic Vinegar of Modena has no added caramel coloring, is non-gmo, and is certified for quality.

(Disclosure: I may receive a very small amount of revenue if you purchase through my Amazon links. It does NOT raise the cost for you, but does help me keep on creating recipes and videos on Jana Eats. Thanks!)
