These tahini rice krispie treats are a gluten-free, dairy-free, no-bake pantry dessert (or snack) that you can whip up in minutes. Checks all the boxes right? The tahini and honey come together to make an amazing caramelized flavor and hold together the rice krispies without marshmallow. These bars are irresistible and are super easy to make. Dig through your pantry for the ingredients and give this recipe a try!
Tips:
You can use either brown rice or regular rice cereal. Honey can be subbed for maple syrup (and makes the rice krispies vegan) with great results. The vanilla and sea salt are a must for the tahini mixture, as it really brings out the flavors. Lily’s chocolate chips are great for this recipe because they don’t add anymore sugar to the rice krispies. Chocolate chips aren’t absolutely necessary, but the flavor combo of tahini and chocolate is a must-try. It’s insanely good.
Be sure to not overheat or simmer your tahini mixture int he saucepan. Work quickly after combining the tahini mixture with the rice krispie cereal and press it down very firmly into the pan. That makes sure they really bind together.
My favorite products for this recipe:
-
Organic Tahini: Baron’s Organic Tahini is smooth, not bitter, and stone-ground. Full of vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants, tahini is a must-have for your pantry! You can find tahini at almost any grocery store. The tahini at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods taste great and have a great price point as well.
- Lily’s Sweet Baking Chocolate Chips: These chocolate chips are a perennial favorite of mine because they have no refined sugar!
